The home of the archaeological survey of ceylon is in Anuradhapura.The ruins of Anuradhapura are one of South Asia’s most powerful eyesights. It’s rich collection of archaeological and architectural wonders built during Anuradhapura’s thousand years of rule over Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura became a great city after the arrival of a cutting from the Bodhi Tree of Buddha's enlightenment in the 3rd century BC. The city also had some of the most complex irrigation systems of the ancient world. Most of the great reservoir tanks still survive today. In here you can see Srima bo tree, Ruwanweliseya, Abayagiriya and lots of stupa made by kings and also historical tanks, ruins and many more to explore.
